The adventure begins with an early morning departure from the Airport or your hotel, heading north towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, located in Nakasongola District — about halfway to Murchison Falls National Park. This sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can see wild rhinos in their natural habitat, making it a special stop before entering the park.
Upon arrival, you’ll meet an experienced ranger who leads you on a guided rhino tracking experience. Walking through the sanctuary’s bush trails, you’ll get up close (but at a safe distance) to these magnificent creatures as you learn about their behavior and conservation efforts. This activity usually takes about 1.5–2 hours.
After the thrilling encounter, the journey continues northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, arriving in time for lunch or an evening game drive, depending on the schedule. Once inside the park, the landscape dramatically changes to vast savannahs teeming with wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, and Uganda kobs.
